A COVID19-pandemic and the resulting lockdowns with a global recession, an accelerating climate change and the Russian war in the Ukraine causing a high inflation are only some major challenges why decisions, forecast and predictions are getting more difficult for companies and for government. As a community of experts, it is our obligation to find the right solutions and meet the high expectations that we have set for ourselves.
Let’s face the facts! Even after all the trends and hypes we have seen and the impressive technology development in the last years, we haven’t solved the problem yet. We are still struggling with our promises to bring the right data to the right people at the right time or to make data the new oil of the 21st century.

Despite these challenges, there are promising trends such as data culture, data Mesh, decision intelligence, and generative AI that can be leveraged to increase the value of data. This presentation will highlight these trends and it will encourage to rethink the focus in data & analytics initiatives. Business potential beyond descriptive analytics with internal, structured data in batch processing, a realistic picture of the user in a self service world or the adaption of our data focused language to find a better acceptance on a C-level are some of the topics that will be addressed.
