This hands-on workshop teaches the participants selected methods and tools for collaboratively identifying and developing data-driven use cases. 'Data Thinking' combines tools, processes, and mindsets of user-driven innovation methods – a kind of Design Thinking for the early phases in Data Science. Besides exploring the potentials of machine learning, participants are encouraged to get practical with data while working on a data challenge and ideating around data-driven use cases throughout the workshop in a collaborative environment.
- Decision makers of organizations with data-related projects
- Project managers of data projects
- Product owners of data products
- Data scientists interested in doing co-creation with managers
- People with a general interest in user-driven innovative methods
- Basic data literacy
- Ideally some prior experience with data-related projects
Alongside the development of data-driven use cases, the participants will specifically be introduced to user-centered innovation methods with a strong emphasis on data. The setting of this Data Thinking workshop will ensure that data is incorporated throughout the ideation process. Within the framework of the Data Thinking workshop, specifically developed tools (data cards and canvases) will be introduced to enhance the participants' data literacy and thus, to support the development of data-driven use cases. These tools will help making data - which is intangible by nature - a more tangible asset throughout the design process. In addition, Data Thinking fosters the idea of co-creation by involving stakeholders with both, data (science) and business backgrounds, in the process of developing data-driven use cases. Finally, participants will be given the opportunity to discuss and evaluate the various aspects of Data Thinking in an active discussion at the end of the session.
